Manatee protection
Manatees are endangered. "Manatees in Florida are protected by state and federal law." "Two federal laws" that help protect manatees are "the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 and the Endangered Species Act of 1973." They are protected by the "Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act of 1978." People can use "propeller guards" on their boats so that manatees do not get hurt by their propellers. In order for the "propeller guards" to work, boaters cannot go too fast on their boats and they have to stay away from the manatees habitat.
